It has topped the official Irish, Australian, and New Zealand charts. It is #1 on iTunes U.K. & BBC Radio 1. And it is #10 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 this week. But perhaps the coolest news of all is that, here at home, after staying in the Canadian Billboard Hot 100 for half a year, peaking at #1, Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” has now been certified a TRIPLE PLATINUM DIGITAL DOWNLOAD, the first in two years. Charity single, Young Artists for Haiti’s “Wavin’ Flag” went 3x platinum back in April 2010.

I was wondering what’s the highest certification ever for a single in Canada?

Good question. Let me check …
1. For a traditional single (vinyl, cassette, CD), honours go to Elton John’s “Candle in the Wind” 1997 almost double-diamond (19x platinum).
2. For a Canadian traditional single, Kalan Porter’s “Awake in a Dream” 2004 8x Platinum.
3. For a digital download single, The Black Eyed Peas’ “I Got a Feeling” 2010 Diamond (or 10x Platinum).
4. For a Canadian digital download, Nikki Yanofsky’s “I Believe” 2010 4x Platinum.
