As you may have surmised from the album cover, Les bouches bées is a female trio. The group is from Montreal, and album Au fil des avenues is country-folk with very beautiful vocal harmonies. Aurelia O’Leary is originally from the Gaspé region of Quebec but is now based in France. She does vocal jazz, and in the new self-titled album, she tackles some well-known songs with her interpretations. Universal Music signee Andee, hailing from the suburbs of Quebec City, releases her debut album with a number of ace songwriters in the background including Simple Plan’s Sébastien Levebvre. Black and White Heart includes her Top 40 hit “Never Gone” and Billboard charting single “Sorries” among other tunes that bring out the best in the powerhouse singer.

The Anglophone version of Les bouches bées could well be Toronto JUNO-winning country-folk female trio The Good Lovelies who present new album Burn the Plan. Cornwall, Ontario’s Melanie Brulée dabbles in the alternative side of things with LP Débridée. Montreal’s Cherry Chérie describes album J’entends la bête as “retro trash bonbon rock and roll”, in other words, lots of fun.

Former Much Music VJ Sook-Yin Lee has been lending her talents to the CBC over the past several years and now joins Adam Litovitz in alternative musical duo Jooj with a debut self-titled work. Martin Deschamps (Offenbach) teams with Breen Leboeuf (April Wine) to give us some good old fashioned rock on LeBoeuf Deschamps. Star Academie finalist (from the 2005 season) Stephanie Bédard rocks really well on her debut album Minuit Debout. She’s from Drummondville, QC.

Trenton, ON’s wonderful country duo Small Town Pistols are back in the game with second album Pistology. Progressive metal band Third Ion, with roots in Regina, will get the heads a-bangin’ with 13/8 Bit. Finally, we sneak in a single, mainly because we have been waiting so long for new music by Oakville, ON’s Anjulie. She has been busy composing songs for other artists and now follows up JUNO-winning dance track “You and I” with summery pop anthem, “Falling In Love Again”.

Enjoy the music!
