Corriveau and Dear Rouge Win SOCAN Songwriting Prize

dear rouge3Recipients of the 2015, tenth annual SOCAN Songwriting Prize have been announced. In the Anglo realm, beating out high profilers like Kiesza, Cold Specks, and Lisa LeBlanc is Vancouver-based electronic rock duo Dear Rouge. Song “I Heard I Had” won for the McTaggart couple a cash prize of $10,000, plus an acoustic guitar, keyboard, $500 gift card from Long & McQuade, 20 hours of studio time, and 6 hours of vocal coaching. In the Franco realm, the Prix de la chanson SOCAN was won by Antoine Corriveau for his song “Le nouveau vocabulaire.” Doubling the monetary amount this year, SOCAN now offers the largest cash prize for songwriting in the Canadian music industry.
