2015 CCMA Award Nominations

Today, the Canadian Country Music Association announced the nominations for this year’s awards gala which will take place in Halifax September 13 and will be broadcast on CBC. Alberta’s Gord Bamford and BC-bred Dean Brody lead the nods with 6 each. It should be noted that, though carrying the title Canadian, the association normally nominates only Anglo country music. Canada has a rich and vast arena of Franco country as well, lest we forget. Moving on to the nominees…

Album of the year nominations are Tim Hicks’ 5:01, High Valley’s County Line, Dean Brody’s Gypsy Road, Dallas Smith’s Lifted, and Jess Moskaluke’s Light Up the Night.

Up for single of the year are Brett Kissel’s “3-2-1”, Dean Brody’s “Another Man’s Gold”, Jess Moskaluke’s “Cheap Wine and Cigarettes”, Dallas Smith’s “Wastin’ Gas”, and Gord Bamford’s “Where a Farm Used to Be”.

The latter is nominated for video of the year along with Jason Blaine’s “Country Side”, MacKenzie Porter’s “If You Ask Me To”, Brett Kissel’s “Tough People Do”, and Dean Brody’s “Upside Down”.

The Rising Star Award acknowledges the breakthrough work of eight nominees: Jason Benoit, Lindsay Broughton, Leah Daniels, Lindsay Ell, Tristan Horncastle, Jordan McIntosh, Madeline Merlo, and Steven Lee Olsen.
