It’s a Canadian invasion in the United Kingdom this week, not in terms of the volume of popular Canadian music but the fact that the number one single and number one album in the country are both from Great White North recording artists. The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness is king of the British Albums chart while Justin Bieber is the monarch of Singles with “What Do You Mean”. The latter is Bieber’s first UK #1 single and has broken a record, that being for streaming. The song was played on streaming services 3.2 million times, far more than the previous record holder One Direction’s “Drag Me Down” at 2.03 million. Justin Bieber previously scored a number one single in Canada with “Boyfriend”.
