Canadian Hot 100, 30 November 2015

A Jann Arden Christmas vaults from #20 last week to #5 this week. The top 10 Canadian Albums chart has six entries from domestic artists. It is the same story on the Hot 100; six Canadian entries are in the Top 10. While all 18 tracks from Justin Bieber‘s Purpose were in the chart last week, 14 hold on this week with only 4 dropping out. The only song to gain a new peak position is the collaboration of Shawn Mendes and Fifth Harmony’s C. Cabello which moves from #85 to #44.

The big news on the Canadian charts this week is of course British female soloist Adele. As she has elsewhere, she has broken the record in Canada for the biggest sales week ever for an album (during the SoundScan era). Her album 25 sold 306,000 copies last week in the Great White North. The previous record was held by Céline Dion whose Let’s Talk About Love sold 230,000 units for a week in November 1997. Adele’s figure puts 25 well over the triple platinum level and makes it the best-selling album released in 2015 to date.
