Montreal’s The Besnard Lakes presents detailed atmospherics in its customary wall of sound. The new alternative album is A Coliseum Complex Museum.

Reggae specialist King Abid provides groovy thrills on his self-titled work. He’s originally from Tunisia and based in Quebec. A number of guests appear on the album including JUNO winner Karim Ouellet.

In the dreamy Each Other, Victoria’s Aidan Knight subdues the climate while adding occasional animated punches. Essentially, this is an alternative work.

Hip hop from Quebec via Brown and a self-titled album celebrates mixtures of culture by incorporating roots and dancehall reggae and both golden age and new school rap.

EP The Silence Is Deafening from Niagara Falls EDM wizard Rezz was good enough to prompt Billboard to name her one of the artists to watch in 2016.

Newmarket, Ontario’s Modern Space contributes quirkily fun alternative EP Before Sunrise.
