Simple Plan Handles Opinion Overload

Simple Plan 9x6

Multiplatinum pop-punk group Simple Plan is geared up for the release of fifth studio album Taking One For the Team (due out Feb 19, 2016) releasing a performance music video for the LP’s opening track, “Opinion Overload”. It follows the Baywatch themed video for “I Don’t Wanna Go To Bed” which features the vocals of American R&B star Nelly and the Knight Rider David Hasselhoff. That song replaced the p in punk with an f, providing a more updated funk sound. But the Plan knows fans also want to hear that classic sound they grew up on which is what “Opinion Overload” embodies.

On its 9.5 million plus liked Facebook page, Simple Plan writes:

“Opinion Overload” is a song about following your heart and not letting anyone tell you that you can’t. For us, writing it was about getting back to our roots and reminding ourselves and everyone else what this band is all about. We wanted to make a video that strips everything bare and lays it all on the table; go back to the basics and focus on what we love the most: playing shows for you.

The video is a walk down memory lane for the five of us, right back to when we started this band and played small, sweaty clubs every night.

Of course, a lot has changed since those days, but in some crazy way, it’s almost as if nothing’s changed at all. …

Simple Plan’s most successful album for sales was 2004’s Still Not Getting Any which at quadruple platinum in 2005 sold in excess of 400,000 copies in Canada alone. The Montreal band was so popular in 2006 that it won the JUNO Fan Choice award. Simple Plan was also one of the performers at the Closing Ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. More recently, the 2012 single “Summer Paradise” struck triple platinum. The group is very popular outside of Canada as well with a large international fan base.
