Canada Wins Its 7th BRIT Award

2016 brit awards

Canada has not won a BRIT Award since 2011 when Justin Bieber won International Breakthrough Act and Arcade Fire won two: International Album and International Group. Those three awards for Canadian acts were added to three in the past: k.d. lang in 1995 for International Female, Alanis Morissette in the same category the following year, and Nelly Furtado in 2007. This year, 2016, Justin Bieber won his second BRIT Award – for International Male Solo Artist. This was the year he also won his first U.S. Grammy Award. With the win, the tally for Canadian artists is now seven at the BRITs, the premier music awards in The United Kingdom. Adele’s 25 was named Album of the Year at the gala and her “Hello” Best Single. Justin Bieber is up for five JUNO Awards at this year’s show in Calgary early April.
