The Canadian edition of The Voice, called La Voix, is onto its fourth season. Winners of the first three were Valérie Carpentier, Yoan Garneau, and Kevin Bazinet. We are keeping track as the number of contestants gets whittled down. This year’s coaches are Ariane Moffatt, Éric Lapointe, Pierre Lapointe, and Marc Dupré, and each team is now down to half a dozen prospective singers. Many eyes are on 15-year-old Sophia-Rose Boulanger of Saint-Bruno (Lac-Saint-Jean). She is in Team Marc and is focusing on classical singing. Éric Lapointe said that she has the most beautiful voice he has heard in his life. Ariane Moffatt wondered if she was an angel who had descended from the skies. Pierre Lapointe found her voice to be simply divine. Sophia-Rose’s coach Marc Dupré was simply flabbergasted by her interpretation of “Nella Fantasia”, that song by Ennio Morricone and Chiara Ferraù based on “Gabriel’s Oboe” from the motion picture The Mission.
