2016 SOCAN Songwriting Prize Contenders

Now into its 11th year, the prestigious SOCAN Songwriting Prize is set to award $10,000 plus some musical instruments to each of the two winners: one for an Anglo song and one for a Franco. The ten finalists in each language group have been unveiled by the organization. These were arrived at by 15 music industry professionals asked to nominate two songs from any genre from emerging songwriters. Emerging is defined as those who have released a maximum of just two LPs to date. Music fans can listen to and vote for their favourite song among the two batches once a day at the following online pages: FRANCO ANGLO. The winning songs will be announced in mid-July. The French language songs are particularly good, we might add.
