Brendan Canning, the Toronto native who helped found artistic group Broken Social Scene, not to mention contributions to several other projects, has returned to his own solo scene with his third studio album, Home Wrecking Years. It is, as to be expected, a slice of finely crafted art with strokes of alternative rock and jazzy baroque pop. We dig it.

Vancouver duo The Pack A.D. gets things really cookin’ on latest energetic punky garage rock album Positive Thinking, its sixth effort and arguably best yet. Recommended for those who become intensely giddified by the geyser of such awesomely packed power.

Back to Toronto (Mississauga to be more exact), R&B specialist PartyNextDoor, alias of Jahron Anthony Brathwaite, releases LP P3. He is signed to Drake’s OVO label, and those who experience goosebumps when listening to The Weeknd should enjoy the same phenomenon with this.

Straight-shooting high calibre pop proceeds from Toronto outfit LITEYEARS with EP American Towns, which is a very pleasant surprise this week. We think this group will go far.

Finally, Vernon, BC rapper SonReal, i.e. Aaron Hoffman, delivers his latest EP, The Name. This talented guy (more talented than the tailor who made his trousers) needs no introduction. Another fine Canadian release!
