Toronto duo Harrow Fair launches debut album, Call to Arms stomping out early country and rock & roll with some gritty ballads. Artistic master Antoine Corriveau contributes brilliant alternative work with the long title Cette chose qui cognait au creux de sa poitrine sans vouloir s’arrêter. Translation: Heart?

Hailing from Ontario’s Wikwemikong Reserve, Crystal Shawanda is back with sumptuous blues album Fish Out of Water. Canada’s James Blunt is here, and his name is Stéphane McNicoll gifting us with sweet album Foncer. Mort de rire by Les Tavarneux is an awesome blues-rock effort.

The king of swing returns with album Nobody but Me. Diamond artist Michael Bublé of Burnaby, BC intersperses jazz pieces with pop on his latest. Cambridge Bay’s JUNO and Polaris winner Tanya Tagaq releases the atmospheric Retribution. From the standpoint of songwriting alone, Toronto roots act The Heartbroken delivers a winner in Storm Clouds.

Barrie, ON’s Dani Strong launches the exquisite Time to Breathe which is sitting at #2 on the iTunes Canada country chart! Charles Landry‘s Ton Coeur is a beautifully done singer-songwriter album. Winnipeg’s John K. Samson explores the phenomenon of Winter Wheat in his alternative work which is selling well.

Halifax raised diamond artist Sarah McLachlan contributes gorgeous Christmas album Wonderland. Currently outselling Lady Gaga is Leonard Cohen‘s You Want It Darker which is darkly gratifying for those who enjoy the Quebec artist’s gruff vocal style and captivating poetry. As far as EPs go, Barrie, ON’s Chantal Preston launches the impressive singer-songwriter job Call You Later.
