Canadian Chart Highlights: April 4, 2017

The NHL may no longer have a passion for the Winter Olympics, perhaps because Gary Bettman’s country is tired of losing to Team Canada, but fruity Toronto urbanist Drake has “Passionfruit” continuing on as the top Canadian artist entry on the Billboard Hot 100 at #2. PartyNextDoor, alias of Mississauga’s Jahron Anthony Brathwaite, enjoys a feature on Zayn’s “Still Got Time” which debuts on the chart at #22. Zayne of course was a member of now defunct British Isles group One Direction. The song enters the Hot Digital Songs chart at #15. “Stay” by Alessia Cara and Zedd, which was performed at the JUNO Awards on Sunday, is tops for a Canadian artist track on that chart at #11 while Hot 100 Airplay prefers The Weeknd’s “I Feel It Coming” at #2. “Wild One” by Lucky Rose featuring Tep No is new on the Emerging Artists chart at #27. Portfolio by Canadian artist Genevieve Leclerc lands at #8 on the Top Albums chart. Agnus Dei by Mario Pelchat & Les Pretres vaults from #23 into the top 10 at #9. Drake’s More Life spends its second week at #1. In terms of airplay format charts, the aforementioned “I Feel It Coming” by The Weeknd takes top Canadian artist honours at All Format (#2), CHR (#3), AC (#5), and Hot AC (#4). Rock prefers Mother Mother (#5) while Country opts for Dallas Smith (#5) for “Side Effects” which he performed at the JUNOs.
