And the First Gold 2017 Canadian Album Is…

Music Canada has just awarded the first gold certification to a Canadian artist album released in 2017. And we know what you’re thinking: “It’s More Life by Drake, right?” Wrong! “Big Wreck’s Grace Street?” No. “Mother Mother’s No Culture?” No. “How about La Voix 5? Must be.” Wrong again. The answer is … Agnus Dei from Mario Pelchat & Les Pretres!

Originally from the humble town of Dolbeau-Mistassini (pop. 15,000), the gifted vocalist has been recording since 1981. He has been nominated at the JUNOs four times. “Super” Mario really is just that; the man has racked up 10 gold albums over the years, three of which have gone platinum. He also has a gold DVD. Mario’s beautiful 2017 work features cleric singing group Les Prêtres containing heavenly songs of inspiration.  iTunes
