Linda Chung Sings Under the Stars

Linda Chung - under the starsCanadian recording artist and actress Linda Chung has released new album Under the Stars, a beautiful adult contemporary Allophone work. The Cantonese language album is currently #1 at Asian entertainment online retail site YesAsia and is available at iTunes Canada. Linda, born and raised in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, has been based in Hong Kong for the past several years working for the TVB network as both an actress and singer. Most of the songs are written exclusively for TV dramas produced by the network, and the new album puts them all together on one disc. The opening track “I Got Married”, penned by Linda herself, expresses her sentiments after tying the knot. All tracks are gorgeous. For us a standout may be “I Don’t Remember”, end theme of “Inspector Gourmet” with some nice piano work. Under the Stars is a soft and sensual charmer.  iTunes

Linda Chung’s “Sacrifice”

Linda Chung - SacrificeHong Kong based Canadian singer (and actress) Linda Chung released new single “Sacrifice” for a TVB drama. We are happy that it is available on iTunes Canada. TVB, launched in 1967, is one of the major television networks in the SAR. Linda’s vocals are just beautiful, and the Cantonese song is a fine neo-trad effort, combining classic acoustic Chinese instruments with modern sounds. We love the strong bass lines; beautiful song. The music video sees the Vancouver beauty pageant winner standing in a lovely, green bamboo forest. See below.  iTunes

Linda ChungTonight is Chinese New Year’s Eve. Given that Chinese were born on Canadian soil prior to confederation and are the third largest group in the country after those of British and French ancestry, the Canadian Music Blog would like to wish all Canadians a very happy Chinese New Year. Because the festival occurs based on the lunar calendar, the date fluctuates each year at some point in January or February. This year, 2013, it is held February 10, and we are entering the year of the snake characterized by the qualities of calm and endurance. We are happy to present the brief bio below and special music video to mark the occasion.
