City and Colour and Michael Buble have become the first artists to be awarded gold/platinum certification by Music Canada on albums released in 2013.  The Hurry and the Harm by City and Colour, released not too long ago, has already gone gold.  To Be Loved, the latest studio album from Burnaby, BC’s Michael Buble has been awarded double-platinum status making it by far the best-selling 2013 album. The package of three albums released back in 2011 – Trilogy – by The Weeknd has also been awarded double-platinum status. Dean Brody’s Dirt from last year has gone gold.

As far as singles go, “Inner Ninja” by Classified featuring David Myles is now a triple platinum digital download making it the best-selling single of the year so far.  Serena Ryder’s “Stompa” has been certified double platinum.  Walk Off the Earth’s “Red Hands” and Trevor Guthrie’s “This Is What It Feels Like” are now platinum singles. Gold status has been awarded to hot new country artist Tim Hicks for “Get By”.

Walk Off the Earth Has Been Caught Red-Handed Entering the Top 20

Walk off the Earth - REVOSarah Blackwood, Joel Cassady, Gianni Luminati, Ryan Marshall, and Mike Taylor are Burlington, Ontario’s Walk Off the Earth, and they are all multi-instrumentalists playing everything from kazoo, banjo, xylophone, glockenspiel, harmonica, trumpet, and ukulele to the standard guitar, piano, and drums. They have been releasing material since 2007 and drew worldwide attention with their clever cover of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” and its music video with the five of them playing it on a lone guitar. Their version peaked at #13 on the Canadian Hot 100, was certified platinum, and became an international hit single. This year, 2013, the band is up for two JUNO Awards.

Walk Off the Earth released an EP at the end of 2012 called R.E.V.O., and single “Red Hands” last week entered the Top 20 of the Hot 100. We are pleased to share the music video below. They will be releasing a full-length album soon.
