A Canadian Lullaby Tops iTunes Songs Dethroning the Brits

A Canadian recording artist recently dropped a sizzling single called “Lullaby” to kick off 2022, and it has managed to dethrone “Cold Heart”, the formidable smash from Elton John and Dua Lipa. It crowns the iTunes songs chart across all categories. The question is … who?

Is it Avril Lavigne, as she is releasing new music and plans to drop a new album at the end of February? No, Avril’s new one is called “Love It When You Hate Me”. It’s been doing well at iTunes, but not #1.

Could it be Drake who wants to relax beneath the stars and dose off to sleep with a lullaby after some vigorous gettin’ jiggy wid it activity via his one dance? No, it’s not Drake.

Could it be Justin Bieber who many would claim to be the only one capable of cutting through the cold heart of a rocket man and a levitating femme fatale? No, it’s not the Biebs.

What about Shawn Mendes, the strapping young lad who got lost in Japan when searching for his long lost love Hello Kitty? No, it’s not him. Shawn’s current hit is “It’ll Be Okay” which is doing well but not number one.

Well then, it has to be The Weeknd! After all, he just dropped a critically acclaimed new album. His new songs are doing okay, but he’s far from the top (and by the looks of it, he’s getting pretty old).

The song “Lullaby” comes from a platinum recording artist, a female soloist.

Alessia Cara? Carly Rae Jepsen? Ruth B? Tate McRae? No, no, no and no.

Our champion says of the sassy, stick it to ’em song that it’s an anthem for people who do not want to disturb others by being too vocal about what they think. It is directed towards people who don’t believe in you and look down on you. “Lullaby” is a way to let go of the negativity brought by the burden of such situations and free oneself from it by just saying to heck with it all.

The new single is electropop built around a disco melody, R&B arrangements, and dressed with the singer’s famous soul-stirring vocals.

Her first formal single was called “Why Do Boys Lie?” written by one of Canada’s foremost songwriters, Rob Wells. And her debut album, Billie Ave., followed in 2020, a disc named after her daughter.

And here it is, a big congratulations to award winning singer Alicia Moffet on the feat! Her music is relevant to all Canadians, and we are excited to see her soar in 2022. “Lullaby” is available in both explicit and clean versions.
