MONTREAL. This year’s ADISQ gala to honour the best from the music industry of the province of Quebec handed out a dozen Félix trophies. Opening the night, hosted by funny man Louis-José Houde, was a performance by 2Frères, Ingrid St-Pierre, Koriass, Richard Séguin, and Yann Perreau. Other performers throughout the evening were Charles Richard-Hamelin, Cœur de pirate, Les Cowboys Fringants, Plume Latraverse, Safia Nolin, and Les sœurs Boulay.
Céline Dion’s late husband and manager René Angélil was posthumously given an honorary award. Céline was in attendance and gave a special performance to his memory with Véronic Dicaire, René Simard, André-Philippe Gagnon, and Ginette Reno.
Two awards were given for shows of the year. For Singer-Songwriter, Jean Leloup won for his Le fantôme de Paradis City. For Performer, Fred Pellerin won for Plus tard qu’on pense.

The music industry of Quebec conducted its first gala of the 2016 ADISQ awards tonight hosted by Sébastien Diaz. The remainder of trophies will be handed out at the main gala Sunday, October 30 and hosted by Louis-José Houde. We have listed the nominees with winners in blue bold type of the first gala below. The music industry of Quebec has unveiled nominations for the 2016 ADISQ galas which will take place at the end of October. The awards honour most of Canada’s musique Francophone, though it is important to note that the ADISQ galas award Anglo, Allo, and instrumental music made in Quebec as well as international Franco music. It is also important to acknowledge that there is some Franco music being made outside of Quebec in other provinces. The ADISQ provides a nice complement to the JUNO awards, the latter slanted heavily towards Canadian Anglo music.
As in past years, there will be three ADISQ galas: an industry awards, hosted by Claudine Prévost, Thursday October 27th at 5:00 p.m. local time; the first ADISQ gala, hosted by Sébastien Diaz, which will hand out the bulk of the trophies, Thursday October 27th at 8:00 p.m.; and the main gala, hosted for the 11th consecutive year by Louis-José Houde, Sunday, October 30th at 7:30 p.m. Coeur de pirate, Safia Nolin and 2Frères have 5 nominations each.
