Alanis MorissetteBreaking news! Alanis Morissette is to be this year’s inductee into the Music Hall of Fame. Alanis has sold over 60 million albums worldwide and won 14 JUNO Awards. She is one of only two Canadians to achieve double diamond status thanks to her blockbuster album Jagged Little Pill which sold 2 million copies in Canada and spawned four number one hits: “Hand In My Pocket”, “You Learn”, “Ironic”, and “Head Over Feet”. The latter three made the year-end Top 10 of 1996, including both the #1 and #2 positions. Throughout her career, Alanis has scored 22 Top 40 hits, 11 Top 10s, and six #1s. Growing up in Ottawa, she attended the same high school as Peter Mansbridge and released her first album in 1991 when she was just 17 years old. Not only did she break through as a teen star but in the words of the JUNO Awards, Alanis “changed the face of the music industry for women, not only in Canada, but worldwide”. A number of modern A-listers have cited Alanis Morissette as an inspiration for getting into music, including The United States’ Katy Perry.
