The Weeknd leads the pack in terms of album certifications; After Hours is the only 2020 disc from a homegrowner to reach platinum. Justin Bieber‘s Changes has gone gold. A couple of Les Soeurs Boulay albums from a few years back receive certifications in 2020.
The recipient of the Single of the Year Juno Award has been certified at Seven Times Platinum, that being “Señorita” from Shawn Mendes with his Cuban counterpart Camila Cabello. At quintuple platinum is The Weeknd’s smash R&B/new wave hit “Blinding Lights”. Triple platinum awards have been granted to Daniel Caesar, Jessie Reyez, Justin Bieber, and Y2K & bbno$.

Currently, a gold album is one that has 40,000 certified units consumed within Canada, platinum 80,000, double platinum 160,000, and so on. Diamond is equivalent to ten times platinum (800,000 units). One unit is either one physical album sale, one full digital album sale, ten sales of an individual track from an album, or 1,500 on-demand audio streams of a track from the album. A stream is not a listen to the entire track but to 30 seconds of it.
